The Mojave Transportation Museum and The Mojave Chamber of Commerce are once again planning to honor the top High School Seniors at Mojave High, Boron High, Desert High (Edwards), and Rosamond High Schools.
The Eighth Annual 4.0 Recognition Dinner will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2010, at the Mojave Veterans Building, 15580 O Street, next to Mojave Park, Mojave, CA, at Social at 5:00 p.m., dinner at 6:00 p.m. Plaques and special gifts will be given to students who have achieved a 4.0 overall grade point average.
We are so pleased to announce that Michele Judd, Managing Director of the Keck Institute for Space Studies (KISS), a joint institute of JPL and Caltech, will be our Keynote Speaker. The primary purpose of KISS is to develop new planetary, Earth, and astrophysics space mission concepts and technology by bringing together a broad spectrum of scientists and engineers for sustained scientific and technical interaction.
Prior to joining KISS, Michele was in JPL's Science Division where she worked on several special projects to improve the environment for researchers and helped manage the OASIS, ServoGrid and QuakeSim research teams. In 2009, Asteroid 185641 was renamed "Judd" in honor of her work at JPL. We believe this outstanding young woman engineer will be an inspiration to these young adults, who will soon be stepping into leadership roles in the East Kern in the near future.
Local businesses and individuals are sponsoring tables for each community high school. Each table sponsor will receive two seats at their table; the other seats will be filled with students, parents, elected VIP's and school officials.
